Marketplace Ministry

Have you ever wondered what exactly is up with Ministry Business? This informative report can give you an insight into everything you've ever wanted to know about Ministry Business.

Truthfully, the only difference between you and Ministry Business experts is time. If you'll invest a little more time in reading, you'll be that much nearer to expert status when it comes to Ministry Business.

Marketplace ministry is commonly referred to as evangelism. This is when a Christian takes their testimony out into the masses. This does not mean a sandwich sign and Christian pamphlets, or yelling"Jesus Saves" from a street corner. Although these methods can be effective, and if you're gifted in this area of evangelism, by all means do your calling. But in most cases you can look much closer than a street corner. How about right at your computer, using your internet business? I'm talking about you being an everyday Christian living an everyday testimony.

This sort of ministry happens everywhere and all the time. People who work in corporations can't just talk about Jesus non-stop. They need to find a way to share their testimony while being a productive member of the organization. How do they go about this?

They simply are productive members of the organization. They live out their Christian walk in everyday life. They are on time with a smile on their face. They accomplish the tasks put before them. When there is an opportunity to share their testimony, the listener knows that the person has a track record of success. They might not be the top sales person, but they are excellent in workmanship. They might not be an executive, but they are knowledgeable and helpful.

Marketplace ministry can be subtle or overt. The whole point is to be out and about in the "marketplace." That can be the local store or the boardroom. Each Christian is called to share the Gospel. How they do it is up to their personal gifts and talents. For some, it is simple networking.

In internet business, especially one that you yourself are the CEO or President of, you have more liberty to minister the message of the gospel. That's the privilege of being the boss and setting the standard for operational practices! Here are some tips for how to use your internet business to market your ministry message, particularly if your primary audience is not Christian:

   1. Be fair, responsive and honest. This is common sense but you'd be surprised how many Christian business owners operate subpar businesses and with shoddy workmanship. Which leads me to...
   2. Be excellent in all you do. Excellence is being the best YOU can be, not competing, but using your resources wisely to get the best result possible.
   3. Don't beat people over the head with your message. Ultimately your clients or potential clients come to you for an answer to their problem. Give them that and let your service speak for itself. It's like trying to witness to a homeless person who may be cold or hungry. God is good indeed but until you address the immediate need no one will hear the Good News and everyone loses.
   4. Establish unwavering operational principles. When you align what you do with how God says how to do it, you're creating a recipe for success. Search the Word for how God says to hire, fire, and treat people. You don't have to be like everyone else to be successful, and when you are consistent in your practices your clients notice, your employees work smarter, and it will help keep you focused.

So what can you do with your internet business? Use it to establish the life you were created to live and spread the message of life all over the world.

Now that wasn't hard at all, was it?  And you've earned a wealth of knowledge, just from taking some time to study an expert's word on Ministry Business.

Registering a Business in Ontario, Canada

The following article covers a topic that has recently moved to center stage--at least it seems that way. If you've been thinking you need to know more about it, here's your opportunity.

You may not consider everything you just read to be crucial information about Ministry Business. But don't be surprised if you find yourself recalling and using this very information in the next few days.

There is absolutely no doubt that Ontario is the best place to start a business in Canada. It is the biggest local economy with close to 13 million and growing residents. It also has the highest per capita income in Canada. The business infrastructure is well established, making the business registration process much easier to execute.

When you decide to incorporate a business in Ontario, you must decide whether you want a sole proprietorship, a partnership or a limited liability partnership. No matter which you opt for, I will help you navigate the Ontario business registration process in the next few sections.

Naming Your Business in Ontario

I will discuss registering both a sole proprietorship and a corporation in this section. If you want to run your business as a sole proprietorship you don't need to formally register your business name. However, as a corporation you must go through the formal Ontario business registration process.

Even as a sole proprietorship, if you are going to name your business anything other than your name, you will have to go through the formal Ontario business registration process. A business' name is registered with the Companies Branch of the Ministry of Consumer and Business Services.

As a business, you have to make a decision whether you want to incorporate in Ontario only or if you want to incorporate in Canada. If you want the latter, you will have to federally incorporate which establishes you as a corporation in all of Canada. For our purposes however, I will focus on Ontario business registration only, which is called a provincial incorporation that establishes and protects your business' name in Ontario and Ontario only.

WARNING: Be very careful when selecting a name for your business. No matter what business type you start, you cannot use any names that resemble any connection with any entity of the Canadian Government, a province, burrough, the Crown or any entity related to it, any municipality or any other form of legal entity. The only exceptions to this are explicit permissions obtained from the entity whose name is being used itself.

Researching Your Business Name

Although the Ontario business registration authorities will tell you if you have a business name identical to another existing one, they won't tell you whether your name is similar to an existing one. Only you can do this by searching the business name database. Why is this important? This step is important so that you are not sued by an existing business for infringement of trademark.

Searches can be conducted for $12 or less, online or personally by visiting the Companies Branch that is located at 375 University Avenue in Toronto. In addition, you should go through the Electronic Corporate Index to learn about the variations of your contemplated business name. You can also conduct your search online through a couple online resources that are endorsed by the Ministry of Consumer and Business Services. Two resources are the following:

OnCorp Direct Inc.

Cyberbahn Inc.

If you are registering a corporation in Ontario, you must submit a copy of a NUANS report with your registration application. A NUANS report is a New Upgraded Automated Name Search report that helps ensure you are not overstepping legal boundaries when naming your business.

The NUANS is a country wide business name registry, which will show all corporation business names in the country that resemble your chosen name (similar names). You can obtain a NUANS report through a "Searcher of Records" through one of many private providers that can be found in the yellow pages or on the internet.

Filing for Your Business Name - What Do You Need?

Like any other legal process, the Ontario business registration process involves some paperwork. If you're incorporating a company, you must complete the articles of incorporation which is Form 1 defined under the Business Corporations Act.

These forms are available online, in stores as well as through attorneys. This is a rather tedious process. An easier process is to file online through Cyberbahn Inc. or OnCorp Direct Inc. for a quicker process.

As you can imagine, you need all your personal as well as business details when filing out the forms. You need the name of your business, address, the description of the business as well as your personal information where you can be corresponded with (send and receive mail).

Keep in mind that you must have a physical address and not a PO Box. If you have partners, you must include all their information as well unless you have more than 10.

Where to File Your Business Name

One of the reasons the Ontario business registration process is so much easier to execute is the number of access points available to you. For example, you can file your business incorporation paperwork in one of many locations.

You can register with the public office of the Companies Branch. You can do this via mail or in person. You can get these forms from the office directly or from a Land Registry Office within the province. You can get your business registered for under $100 no matter which method you choose (normally $80 in person and $60 online).

The main difference I can think of between registering in person or via mail is the time it takes for you to get your Master Business License, which is essentially the proof of your business' registration. You get this immediately when you register in person, whereas you get it within 8 weeks if you register via mail. Online registration takes a couple days I believe.

Obtaining Your Business License

Once you have registered your business name, you will need the various licenses and registrations specific to your business operations. These are specific to the nature of your business, and have to be obtained and maintained in addition to complying with your Province's and Canada's laws.

For example, if you employ a workforce, you will need Worker's Compensation Insurance. This is just one example. Like I said, the licenses you need are specific to the nature of your business. to understand what licenses and registrations are applicable to you, visit the Government's BizPal website which can help you determine what you need.

The Ontario Business Registration

Once you have your business name registered, you must file for incorporation next. You will need a complete set of your Articles of Incorporation, a recent NUANS report that shows which names you searched for, a covering letter as well as the fee. The fee, if filed in person at the Companies Branch is $360. Electronically, the fee is only $300.

But remember, all of the above steps must be completed before you start the business registration process.

Ongoing Maintenance of Registration and Licenses

The Ontario business registration is good for five years, after which it has to be renewed. The tricky part is that the authorities do not send reminders as business registration is the owner or the Company's responsibility.

Other Important Information

There are a few important things in addition to registering your business in Ontario that I want you to take away with you.

Remember that you must re register a business after it has undergone change in ownership (buy / sell). A fee must be paid upon registration once again.

It is also important to note that only certified or chartered accountants and practicing attorneys can establish a Limited Liability Partnership.

It is also important to reiterate that, as I stated earlier, you cannot use a business name that resembles any legal entity / Government entity. When in doubt, always double check and obtain exclusive permission if you must. Failure to do so can result in fines and penalties of sorts.

The Ontario Business Names Act can impose a fine up to $2,000 for individuals and up to $25,000 for corporations if you do not register your business or register it with one of the restricted names such as that with resemblance with a Government entity.

If you've picked some pointers about Ministry Business that you can put into action, then by all means, do so. You won't really be able to gain any benefits from your new knowledge if you don't use it.

CRM in the Lord's House - The New Business Trend For Ministry

You should be able to find several indispensable facts about Ministry Business in the following paragraphs. If there's at least one fact you didn't know before, imagine the difference it might make.

Sometimes the most important aspects of a subject are not immediately obvious. Keep reading to get the complete picture.

CRM visions have proven their worth in the conglomerate corporate businesses in the entertainment, healthcare, financial, energy, and communication industries when implemented strategically within specific time, resource, and budget constraints. The ability to view the customer and its sales, call center, and marketing interactions provides a holistic summary of a company's standings with the services and products offered. CRM has now taken a leap into another market that is not so traditional in terms of evaluating ROI and marketing effectiveness - the church or what is loosely referred to today as ministry.

Let's face it the church of yesterday in no way models the modern day church. As of 2006, there were at least 1200 mega churches that represented three tenths of one percent of all congregations that consistently have at least 2000 weekly "visitors". (1) There were mega churches in 45 out of 50 states. The states with the most mega churches are Texas with 174 (14%), California with 169 (13.7%), Florida with 83 (6.7%) and Georgia with 64 (5.2%). Houston and Dallas alone account for 56 mega churches or 4.5% of the total (2). These numbers have increased by at least 15% in the last year. Needless to say, there are enormous contributions provided through regular tithes and offering from parishioners or members. Additionally, the modern non-denominational church may sell products and services to parishioners or ministry partners. Each church may have multiple ministries that focus on a particular mission. Additionally the modern-day pastor may have a separate "ministry" or "enterprise" of which his/her products and services are sold to spread the gospel. All of these components, while not necessarily the vision of God, provide a clear reason to consider the church as a business, sometimes with both a profit and non-profit arm.

Based on multiple annual reports of churches that boast 3500-4000 congregations per Sunday, approximately $5M is required to operate to provide very minimal assistance to the needy (of which a minimum salary of $200K is provided to the pastor). Even for the 100-member church with the $200K operating budget, it is imperative for the church leaders to have visibility into the contributions and expenditures very similar to the Coca-Cola, Toyota, and Dell corporations. If the church or ministry is viewed as a business, a clear CRM vision can answer the normal questions required to operate: 1) How much revenue is being generated by a specific product or service? 2) What services or products are better marketed in specific geographic areas for a greater return? 3) What are the expected operational expenses for the ministry? 4) What are the expected contributions to anticipate the new marketing strategies or services that should/can be offered in the future? 5) What products and services have a low market value and high market value and should have increased or decreased promotion?

The mapping from the traditional CRM solution to ministry terminology is quite simple if the ministry purpose is slightly obliterated from the vision. Gartner's definition of CRM being a "business strategy with outcomes that optimize profitability, revenue, and customer satisfaction by organizing around customer segments, fostering customer satisfying behaviors and implementing customer-centric processes" (3) fits the modern ministry model with strategic term definitions for the following five key ingredients that shape the financial success of the ministry:

1) Customers
Parishioners, any individual that attends the church or "partners" with the ministry, or members of the church based on the definition provided by the church would fall into this category.

2) Payments
Each "customer" contributes a tithe or offering. Mega churches have now implemented the idea of an annual subscription where a person signs an intent to pay (like a promissory note or pledge) a certain amount of money to the church within the year. This helps the church identify how well incoming contributions will offset the operating expenses that include the ministerial and administrative staff salaries and the normal operations like musical equipment, mission and education, marketing, assistance to needy, and maintenance.

3) Products
Most churches have a physical or online bookstore where spiritual books (like Bible or authored by motivational speakers or other ministers), CDs, tapes, DVDs, and mp3 files are sold of sermons, bible lectures, or a series of topics to reach all audiences and spread the gospel.

4) Services
In the case of most ministries, specifically pastor-originated, a fee is charged for the minister to "preach", speak, pray, or attend another church or conference. There are also fees charged for an organization to rent the church space. Additionally, there may be a fee charged for a choir to sing at an event.

5) Marketing
Marketing can be as small as promotional flyers to promote a Cancer Walk-a-Thon or as large as television advertisement, Streaming Faith (online presence of the church's services), or network television presence. Some mega churches also employ Call Centers to call "partners" or "members" to promote specific events. There may even be trade or promotional spending to persuade retailers or other ministries to carry certain products in their inventories.

There are many CRM packages that can handle the CRM vision of pastoral leadership. However, the costs can be enormous based on what is really necessary to provide reporting, analytics, and effective tracking to forecast incremental membership and "revenue" growth. For example, Siebel is an enormous undertaking and a tremendous expenditure upwards of millions that require continuously large operational expenses with a minimum integration time of six months to year. SAP CRM is less user-friendly than Siebel and usually requires at least a year to implement with many caveats. Razor's Edge lacks user-friendliness, customizability, maintainability, and upgradeability and is not as strategic and analytical in the reporting compared to other CRM packages that are less expensive. and Sugar CRM are by far the better options in terms of implementation time, ability to combine analytics and reporting with external systems, user-friendliness, data integration and conversion timeliness, accuracy, and effectiveness, and overall minimal costs for production support. Indeed, there are a few ministries (mega churches) that spend millions of dollars on Siebel implementations for an initial implementation and post-production support. Keep in mind that the recommendations provided are based on a system providing effective functionality with the ability to keep costs at a minimum such that the ministry can focus on spending most of its money on programs/outreach with the mission to help the less fortunate.

Nonetheless, ministry today operates as a business with the same needs as the conglomerate corporate enterprises that desire marketing, sales, spending, and management visibility into the success of their products and services as it relates to target demographics, niche markets, and seasonal periods. CRM solutions provide the forecasting, regulatory compliance standards, data integration with financial systems and old legacy systems, and accessibility required for trend analysis to track contributions, membership and revenue growth, and analysis of future operations and spending. It is, however, scary that while CRM provides a holistic overview of the parishioner, partner, or member's contribution to the ministry's ROI, it never can measure the true essence of the ministry's purpose - saving a soul.

There's no doubt that the topic of Ministry Business can be fascinating. If you still have unanswered questions about Ministry Business, you may find what you're looking for in the next article.

How do I Grow my Business or Ministry?

Have you ever wondered what exactly is up with Ministry Business? This informative report can give you an insight into everything you've ever wanted to know about Ministry Business.

Now that we've covered those aspects of Ministry Business, let's turn to some of the other factors that need to be considered.

So . . . have you asked that question at some point? Do you feel somewhat stuck? Can't figure out where to begin? Is the phone not ringing? Having difficulty gaining support for what you have to offer?

Whatever the case, you're not alone. All of us go through it at some point. Don't be discouraged. You know, sometimes you just need, what I call "AAA," an acronym for Advice, Adjust, and Advertise.

If perhaps you can't figure out the reason for your "slow" or "no" growth, begin with the three steps below. They're simple, yet powerful strategies.

1. Get advice. Ask other professionals and successful people. Have you considered that, there are countless individuals who have already done what you're currently attempting to do? You don't need to reinvent the wheel. Why not call them up? Or, pick up a book on the subject. If you have some time to spare, you can learn anything.

2. Make Adjustments. After you gain an understanding of what you're doing wrong, change it. This one is huge. How often do we read books, attend trainings, listen to powerful sermons, and go right back to doing the same old thing? Take the knowledge you have, and apply it.

3. Advertise. Tell someone about what you have to offer. Don't minimize the importance of making others aware of your event, product, or service. You'd be surprised to see just how many people would support your efforts, if they only knew about them. You have so much you can bring to the table. Whether you realize it or not, someone needs what's inside of you.

I know you can accomplish amazing things. Trust me, I am speaking from experience. I don't want to assume that you already know, so I'll briefly share what I do. I am VP of Marketing for Hobbs Ministries, and founder of Empowering Everyday Women Online Magazine.

Essentially, I do lots of account acquisition, networking, copywriting, ghostwriting and editing. My passion is to help entrepreneurs and leaders recognize their full potential through writing, especially in the context of advertising and marketing.

Is it a lot of responsibility? You betcha. Was I intimidated by all of the tasks when my husband and I began our business? Sure was. Did I finally overcome it and break through? Thankfully, yes. That's why I know that, everything you need to succeed is already inside of you.

You may have heard that before, but it's very true. Granted, you might not have all the resources or connections you want right now, but keep moving forward, and it will happen for you. Countless women have done it. You can too.

Did you know that according to the Center for Women's Business Research, 48% of all privately-held U.S. firms have women in positions of majority ownership; 10.6 million firms are at least half owned by a woman or women. That's encouraging, isn't it?

I have no doubt that you can accomplish what God put you on this earth to do. That's why EEW is here. It's for you to draw strength and inspiration from other women just like you. Through their stories, I pray that you will have an epiphany and become more aware of your own intelligence, creativity, capability and competence.

The day will come when you can use something you read about here to have a beneficial impact. Then you'll be glad you took the time to learn more about Ministry Business.

Internet Ministry: How Should I Add A Blog To My Church Website?

The more authentic information about Ministry Business you know, the more likely people are to consider you a Ministry Business expert. Read on for even more Ministry Business facts that you can share.

Bishop Brown, Our church has a Content Management System based website. My question is "What Is The Best Option For Adding A Pastors Blog?

I have several Joomla websites (for business and for ministry) and I would like to add a blog to better communicate with my church family, as well as, the broader community I would find online.

I am wondering if it is better to add a blog into the website itself through a Joomla blog extension or set up a WordPress blog and link it to the site (I can do all that myself). Another option I am considering, if it would work better, is to set up a blog on one of the more popular blogging platforms online and just link to it.

By better I mean as far as SEO (Search Engine Optimization) goes.

What do you advise?

Pastor J ~ Chicago

Hi Pastor J and thanks for the question.

I believe there is only 1 great solution for your question. However before I give my solution a bit of background.

I too have used Joomla extensively for church and business websites. I have also created and used blogs with several of the Joomla extensions. For research I have also created and maintained blogs on Blogger and

Moreover, my personal and ministry blogs are run on self-hosted WordPress sites. With links to my more than 10,000+ Twitter followers and my several thousand Facebook friends and fans.

In my opinion nothing, I mean nothing, beats the search engine juice that a well constructed and keyword rich WordPress blog can deliver. My practical experience is buttressed by case study after case study.

So my answer is create a self hosted WordPress blog and incorporate it into your other sites. This is the same advice I have given to other pastors who want to add a pastor's blog to the existing church sites, it works and I believe you will reap major benefits.

First Trimester Basics - Building a Ministry Or Business With a Strong Foundation

The following paragraphs summarize the work of Ministry Business experts who are completely familiar with all the aspects of Ministry Business. Heed their advice to avoid any Ministry Business surprises.

Most of this information comes straight from the Ministry Business pros. Careful reading to the end virtually guarantees that you'll know what they know.

As I was having my morning coffee and catching up on some reading, I begin to think about where I was with my business. As we draw near the end of the year I believe reflection is important. We should always take a self assessment of where we are in each area of our lives. I asked the question, "Where am I with what I believed God had called me to do?" As I begin to review the last six months, I saw exciting things unfolding. I saw the structure and organization of my business unfolding. I saw that my business models and strategies taking their rightful place. I looked at how each area was working together in unison to create a unique enterprise that would empower women all over the nation. So many times I believe as we set out in our personal and business endeavors we find ourselves on a verge of anxiousness for something great to happen when in fact it has already begin to do just that. The greatness and success of a business or ministry lies in the laying of the foundation. That foundation will be the glue that holds each aspect together. The bible tells us not to despise small beginnings. For the strength of any project is in its birthing stages.

The most crucial time for a new pregnancy is in the first trimester. Most mothers do not show much on the outside but on the inside all of the major organs of the baby are being formed. The amniotic sac surrounds the baby and provides protection for the baby and helps regulate its temperature throughout the pregnancy. The placenta is also a major player in the initial stages of pregnancy. It provides nourishment to the baby. And let us not forget the umbilical cord. This cord is in place to carry oxygen to the baby and waste products away from the baby.

And just as the first trimester of a pregnancy is important in the development of the baby, the same is applicable to the development of your business or ministry. There are several building blocks that I think we must begin to rehearse daily:

Building Block #1
We must be diligent in putting core processes in place to protect the life of business.

Building Block #2
We must continue to expose ourselves to new business practices that will provide nourishment to the vision.

Building Block #3
And we must be sure that put together an inner circle that will encourage us, pray for us and have the ability to carry away those things that will harm us in the long run.

Each of these blocks provides a foundation that will cause us to see true greatness and success in your business or ministry.

Using video marketing strategies as a way to promote your ministry online can be extremely effective. Let's face it: Video compels people.

Look at the popular wave of YouTube! YouTube is a video sharing website where users can upload, view and share video clips. YouTube was created in mid-February of 2005 by three former PayPal employees. "As more people capture special moments on video," its Web site declares, "YouTube is empowering them to become the broadcasters of tomorrow."

It's popularity has grown at an incredible rate. Other video sites are staking a claim in this emerging force of video, such as iFilm, Dailymotion, video.googleand vi Christians have also taken advantage of the video upload craze with their site called GodTube, which specializes in Christian-themed videos.

In addition to all the sites available, you can also find websites that give you step by step methods to teach you how to use video to promote yourself, your business or your ministry.

Ruth Klein, a nationally renowned writer, speaker, strategic marketing consultant and productivity coach, has a powerful 7 Part Mini-Course on branding and productivity. I found Ruth's simple video course and her website extremely helpful. She lays a solid foundation in utilizing video marketing strategies especially in the area of branding, as you take steps to promote a business on line.

No doubt, many more entrepreneurs and marketing coaches are encouraging others to take advantage of using video. In fact, some recent studies conducted over the years have continued to show the persuasive effectiveness of video. One such study, by The Wharton School of Business, showed that video boosts comprehension and retention by 50% over a live presentation. In addition, studies have shown that six times as many people prefer a video to printed information.

As a Christian, you may still ask, "Why would I use video to promote my ministry online? Do I really need video marketing strategies?"

Here are Four Reasons:

1) Using video marketing strategies is the best way to engage an audience. Whether it's a church marketing video or simply you looking into the camera sharing a message, you have the opportunity to convey a message on multiple levels. You have sight, the spoken word, sound if music is involved, and visual text.

2) A Video can reveal who you really are, your sincerity, your passion, your wisdom as you begin the pursuit to promote your ministry. With powerful content, you can make an emotional connection with your audience that motivates them to pass it along to others.

3) You can reach a large audience with a minimum amount of investing in the production of your videos.

Register a Sole Proprietorship Business in Ontario Canada

Have you ever wondered what exactly is up with Ministry Business? This informative report can give you an insight into everything you've ever wanted to know about Ministry Business.

It's really a good idea to probe a little deeper into the subject of Ministry Business. What you learn may give you the confidence you need to venture into new areas.

In this article I will discuss how to incorporate in Ontario for sole proprietor businesses, specifically how to incorporate your business in Ontario online for the quickest and most economical route.

There are three steps to incorporate in Ontario:

1) Researching and selecting a business name

2) Going through the Ontario business registration process

3) Obtaining the additional licenses and certifications needed to do business in Ontario

Part of the third requirement is to obtain certain tax related material, such as the Goods and Services Tax (GST), payroll tax account, import and export tax account numbers, etc. Before I get into incorporating your business online, let's spend some time discussing sole proprietorships.

Many business registrants choose to register a sole proprietorship because it is the easiest to register and typically owned and operated by only one person, the owner (most business owners are individual operators). A sole proprietorship can be discontinued or ended just as easily it is formed. The registration fees are not as steep as they are for corporations.

However, as an owner, your assets and liabilities can be construed as being part of the business in the event the business is sued. Therefore, you as an owner have no limited liability. You are personally responsible for all implications resulting from your business. As you can imagine, many are willing to go through a more extensive Ontario business registration process and pay higher fees to limit their liability exposure.

Ontario Business Registration Online

When you incorporate in Ontario, you may do so in person or online. I prefer the online method because it is simple and convenient in that you can do it anytime you want. Because the Ontario business registration system is mature and well developed, the online business registration platform is quite comprehensive and can be used to not only obtain your business number but also your tax account number, as well as other similar accounts such as the GST, Payroll, import and export.

It will typically cost you around $60 to register or renew a business name and around $12 for a business name search. With this function you can search all business names that are already registered to avoid exposure to any lawsuits and trademark infringements.

How to Incorporate in Ontario

Whether you do it online or in person, the same set of procedures have to be followed when you incorporate in Ontario, which starts with registering with the Ministry of Consumer and Business Services, the legal entity that is responsible for all business incorporation in Ontario.

As an entrepreneur, you cannot start conducting your business operations without first registering your business name. The specific branch of the Ministry of Consumer and Business Services that you will want to register with is the Companies Branch, the sub entity responsible for business incorporation. The registration process costs $60 as stated above if done online, however this fee is $80 if you were to register in person, yet another reason to opt for online services instead.

Also as stated above, you must conduct a business name search prior to registering your business as the search paperwork is needed to be filed as well. Business searches typically cost between $8 to $12, though some service providers charge a higher amount. The amount you are charged depends on how extensive your search is.

Ready to incorporate in Ontario? Start by visiting the Ontario Government ServiceOntario website. Once there select the Register option and scroll down the page to click on "Do It Online Now" to start the process. You will start by conducting a business name search and subsequently registering it. If you are not comfortable completing the search and application online and would rather do it in person, simply print the forms available on the website and take it to the local office to file in person.

Once you are finished with the business name search, go ahead and populate the information asked in the various fields. You will have to specify the type of business operations, the type of entity you are registering and where your business will operate out of. You will also need to indicate whether you will hire employees. You must provide a business address (not a PO Box), as well as your name and the business name under which you wish to operate.

Once done that's it. You just need to provide your payment details by entering your credit card information and you are done. Your card will be charged $60 and you have your business registered. If you choose to register via mail, print the forms from the website and send it to the stated address (also available online) along with a check for $80.
